Default Lake close to Red Banks

I was wondering if there is a lake fairly close to Red Banks, MS. I know about Arkabutla, Sardis, and the like but I was hoping there was one cloder to Hwy 78.

I am sort of embarassed to ask this, but where is Red Banks? I seem to
have heard of it, but can't place it. I am familiar with Hwy 78 though,
at least as it comes through New Albany and Tupelo.

To answer your question there are many small ponds in the area and the coldwater runs close by but no large lakes that I know of.

    Default ok I'm lazy

I went and looked at the map, try Chewalla Lake it is just off 78.
it is a state park I think. I have never fished it, but did go and walk
the bottom several years ago when they had it down for maintenance.
good creek channel runs all the way down it, with good flow of water,
and lots of low stumps in the mid section of lake and along the channel
down towards the dam. Have not heard crappie reports since it refilled,
6-8 years ago??? but it used to be known for good crappie before.

Chewalla is a 260 acre lake about 2 or 3 miles from Pots Camp and around 15 miles from Holly Springs off hwy 78. It was redone 4 to 5 years ago and has made for a great bass lake. I crappie fished it several times last fall and caught 25 fairly nice ones trolling cork and jig tipped with minnow one trip in the deepest part of the lake. Biggest crappie would go 13 inch. By the way it has a big boat ramp and decent camp sites.

    Default Puskus Lake

Puskus Lake is just east of Oxford in the Holly Springs Nat. Forest. I used to fish it when I was at Ole Miss, years ago. It was good Bass Lake then.
I spent a few days at Wall Doxey State Park last year and drove out to Chewalla and Puskus but did not fish. Both Lakes look good. Would be a great place to camp and fish a couple , three days. Not much traffic as far as I could tell. They are really out in the boonies.
