Have you checked the basics? Fuel line come loose? Spark?
I was running my xpress today at wot and the engine (1999 125 merc) suddenly stopped. No missing no hesitation just stopped. It was as if the kill switch was pulled. (it wasn't, I checked) Now it just spins and spins when you turn the key and doesn't hit at all. What's going on??

My guess is you have lost the spark. The motor should have spit, sputtered, and lost rpm a little before stopping if it is a fuel problem.

I paid good bucks to a boat mech just to find out the kill switch was bad. boat would run and then stop run and stop.

If the fuel line's ok, sounds like the power pack went bad or a wire came loose somewhere. I don't think a carb. problem would cause it to quit all of a sudden. Are you getting a spark?
Had a bad kill switch do that to me once. Easy diagnosis though, Pull the switch and cross the two wires together and see if she starts. If so need switch,if not i would bet on the ignition system not putting out spark.
There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.
Probably your powerpack, I have had that to happen to me before...

yup electrical...this happend on my 125 force..turned out it was the stator/power packs that was bad and would short out when engine warmed up.
I support catch and eat! :D
start with unhooking black and yellow wire under cowling to power pack thats your kill switch, if engine starts its your kill switch, if not its probably the stator but wouldn't buy one until you sheck with volt meter or dva meter parts are high. and new stator kit (red) is around 400 to 500 good luck
