Kid, I use a 7 foot Mighty Lite.,but any lite action should work. Spinning Reel,6 lb. test line, some 1/16 oz. jigheads, and some tubes! If ya want to fish live bait get some #2 hooks, spiltshot, and a Slip bobber. Good Luck Buddy!! Hope I Helped a little!!

Old Ship says hello and I am glad that you cast a line to this forum. I also extend a welcome you on behalf of all the members. You can't go wrong if you start off with an Ugly Stick Lite, some 6 pound line,Floats, Sinkers, a #4 hook and a 1.5 inch live minnow. Here is a basic setup. Later on you can add jigs to your tactics.

Welcome to the board from VA! An ultra lite rod, small spinning reel, and some 6 lb test and your good to go. Hit up some local fisherman to find out what baits to try in your area! Good luck.
