    Default Rosey Reds

Anyone ever use these? They are a type of minnow that are reddish in appearance but are not goldfish. Bill's Bait and Tackle carry them in Elizabethtown and they were deadly at Taylorsville during the fall. I will definitely be trying them next week.

    Default Reds

Rosy Reds are pretty common down here. They are available around Reelfoot most of the year. I don't know how common they are in the Kentucky Lake area. I think that they are a variation of a fathead or tuffy. They are very hardy but are usually a bit smaller than the shiners that we get around here.

I know several people who swear by them and would use them almost year around if they can get them. I don't really like them that much. I catch 4 to 1 better on shiners year round, but some people say exactly the opposite.

I had a bait shop owner at Reelfoot tell me I was crazy for wanting shiners about a week and a half ago. I don't know if he was just messing with me or what b/c the day before two good fishermen who use reds fished and could not get a bite on reds, only shiners. I really think that he just had a bunch of reds and wanted to sell them before they died. Maybe not, but I got the wrong impression.

Didnt know anything a bout them until I went to Arkansas Last spring and hammered Crappie with a Guide at actionfishingtrips.com and since then I have been killing them up here in Iowa.. Popular enough now that the local bait shop carries them year around.
