    Default Rapala CD03 Countdown Minnow

Anyone use these for crappie? I was watching a fishing show and of course they were slaughtering them with the silver minnow...lol.

Was thinking of heading up to Dicks or Basspro to get some.

Or I will take any other suggestions for some good lures. I usually use jigs but decided to give the hard bait a try.

Been using a lucky craft pointer 68 I think it is. Its a suspending jerk bait. Been catching some big crappie this year using it and its a blast. I think if Im correct and remember right from some of his post Mr. baker on the forum does a lot of jerk bait fishing he might be the one to ask.

    It may have been 78

    78 DD: 3"; 3/8 oz; suspends at 7'-8'

Looks good. I will check that out. Bought 2 of the rapalas so we'll see about those.

Are you catching them just away from the channel before it drops off?

Your right its a 78. We were catching them near a secondary point in about 5-8 ft of water. Kind of a flat you would say and it wasnt really near a deep channel swing or anything. Man it was fun though and they were big fish.

I have not tried the jerk baits yet, but talked to 2 guys that were fishing bass tournments last weekend that caught several big crappie while using jerk baits for bass. Something new for me to learn.

I use a tiny Rapala Floating Minnow, black/silver or firetiger, like a jerkbait when crappies are in shallow weeds early in summer on one of my favorite sand pit lakes. It fishes nicely over the tops of the coontail that hasn't reached the surface yet.

Fun fishing! The crappies really slash wildly at the bait, but I don't get a hook in all of 'em.

65DD is my favorite but any size will catch them if the wind, water temp. and location is right. When you catch a crappie on a jerk bait it is usually a good one.

I concur. The aggressive little guys can't quite handle the bait. Eyes are bigger than the stomach, or mouth.

All of these crappie were caught on jerkbaits at Lake of the Ozarks a couple of weeks ago. I think they were fishing between the toll bridge and the dam.
