    What a fantastic forum for boat motor questions. Im installing new spark plugs in my 99 mercury 200EFI. Does anyone know what the gap is suppose to be? Thanks

    That motor calls for NGK BU8H plugs. They are the gapless type. Well not really gapless but you don't set it.

    Here is a good place to go to learn about plugs and see what alternates fit your application.

    Spark plug, Spark plug wire, spark plug gap, spark plug cross reference and ignition wires at Sparkplugs.com

    I switched from standard Champions to Iridium Densos and have been very happy. Iridium is much harder than steel and the plugs do not have to be changed as often due to wear.

    I also switched the standard plugs in my Tacoma to double platinum due to the same argument about changing plugs. I figure I have at least 60,000 rather than 30,000 between changes.
