    Default Okuma Infusion questions


    Anyone use one of these Okumas? I am considering the 9' 5wt (4 piece) rod but don't know if it is a good one in it's price range. I'd appreciate any comments. TIA

    Don't know anything about that combo. In that price range, I'd also look at the following combos:

    I have a Hobbs Creek outfit and would recommend it. I've heard good things about all the others.

    I concur with DB4D. Too many proven sticks around to speculate on a newcomer that probably hasn't done enough research in fly-rod design/building to create a decent one.
    Nothing against Okuma (Sp?) in particular, just too much going for the others.

    I purchase my daughter an Okuma reel. Not sure the exact model but I was very impressed with the reel. I also purchased a Okuma spincast that I love. Lots of quality in the reel. Good luck

    I got the Hobbs Creek from BPS about 2 years ago and it is absolutely an incredible fly fishing outfit. If you are in the $100-$150 range it is about my favorite. For the record, I have been fly fishing for about 35 years now and I have had several flyrods. My first was an old Eagle Claw fiberglass rod with a Martin reel on it. I still miss that rod...

    i bought two of these at fourty bucks a copy + shipping on ebay,they work well,although i am pushing line weight well past 3,i am impressed with these rods at this price.
    ps- they make this rod in 8' & 9'
