I Can Only Tell You Guys Still Working To Retire As Soon As You Can..... I Retired In Aug. 07 At The Age Of 62 Wanted 2 Checks.. Two Months After I Retired "mike Grimes" A Mechanic I Worked With For 28 Years Retired 2 Months After I Did At The Age Of 57 Years Old, Had His 30 In And Where We Worked You Could Max Out At 55 If You Were Young Enough, Well Sad Place To Be Last Night At The Funeral Home In Butler Mo. Visitation Was From 4:30 To 8 Pm, I New With Those Hours It Would Be Crowded, Parking Was Clear Down The Highway... Mike Passed Away Monday At Noon Of A Heart Attack, Retired One Year And A Few Months And Gone, You Never Know, And Mike Never Smoked,drank Or Was 5 To 10 Pounds Overweight....i Even Give Mike Rides Home On Way To Clinton.....sure Makes You Think About Your Life And How Quickly It Can End....go Get'em Today And Cherrish Every Day You Are Alive And Healthy.... Oss.

OSS is on the mark. I retired 4 years ago at 58 after 36 years of fun. Not.
Don't miss it and still can't figure out how I ever had time to go to work when I was employed.
It takes planning.

I'm sorry to hear of your friends passing. I retired 3 years ago at 54 after teaching and coaching for 30 years. I did enjoy it but the lack of discipline from administration was getting to be a pain in the butt.
My first year was fine since I completely remodeled the inside of the house and it kept me busy. The second year was tuff with gas prices high, all of my friends still working and taking care of my brothers estate. Winter is the worst. This year I have gone to my place at MTL more than all of last year and ready to hit the water. It has taken an adjustment and am enjoying it more everyday.
Retirement is a great thing and I have no plans to return to work but as peculiarmike said it takes planning.
