Question Where to buy an Ugly Stick crappie rod?

I've been all over the internet for an hour or so a day for the last week. I cannot find a USCR 90 (9') or USCR 10 (10') anywhere, but I did find this forum.

Anyone know where I can buy one of these rods over the phone from a shop that will ship to Oregon?

Is the Cabela Whuppin Stick a reasonable alternative?

Looking for a rod with a relative soft, but break resistant tip, to use as a quiver tip rod for fishing on the bottom with 6-8 lb line and a 1/4 - 1/2 oz sinker. I did buy a 12' Cabela "Crappie System 120" rod, but the the tip is scary delicate and the rod is longer then I want.

Any help would be deeply appreciated.
    Thanks -
    OD

Why don't you buy a real quiver tip rod instead? It'll be much better than an Ugly Stik. I have three quiver tips, and I wouldn't trade them for any Ugly Stik.

Wacker Baits sells QT's as does Team Bogash:

    Team Bogash Fishing

What are you fishing for? Carp?

grizzy jigs....had those exact rods. Here is the only link I found that has the 9 footers now. I bought 6 of the 9 footers when Sportsman Guide had then listed a while back, but they are all gone from there also. I have never, ever seen the 10 footers for sale anywhere.

OK, I just took a look at this rod on Cabelas' site. I didn't realize it was an actual quiver tip rod.

All true quiver tips will have a VERY light tip. That's what makes them QT's. My QT rods are built for carp: loads of backbone but with a true QT that will show the lightest of bites.

It sounds like you'd be more satisfied with the Ugly Stik or the Whuppin' Stick. Neither will show light bites like a true QT, though.

I have handled the 9 footer before and they are pretty heavy in the hand, no doubt tough tho.

I'm not trying to hijack, but I've got a few questions......

I thought the short 4' - 5' ultra lite poles here the best for crappie. Why does everyone seam to use the long 9' - 10' poles?

I loved my 5' UglyStick ultra lite until I left it on the boat and someone stole it or it fell overboard.

And is UglyStick made here in the US?
I only fish The Coon cause that's where I keep my toon.

Depends on what you want to do. The long rods are generally used for trolling or vertical jigging. For casting jigs, I like shorter rods.

Default Sorry davidcarolina, I couldn't find one on the Catfish Connection.

Kind of frustrated right now. Haven't been able to find a way into Shakespeare's home page to ask them directly either.

For anyone wondering, I'm a bank fisherman, and have been messing around with a modified Brit-style long rod bank fishing for 10 years or so. I know just enough to be dangerous and no more.
