    Default Schell-Osage Crappie

This is my first post. I think its really cool the info you guys share. Hope to start sharing some good info also.

We just bought a small place last fall at Schell City, MO to duck hunt. At closing the nice old couple we bought it from acted like we were crazy that we didn’t buy the old house for the crappie fishing close buy. They were from KC and apparently that’s all that they did there was crappie fish.

We live at Shell Knob on the rock and I can’t get a crappie to bite down here to save my life. Thinking about trying out the small lakes at schell-osage and just wanted to see what you guys thought.

    Thanks,
    Reddog66

Welcome to the site from Truman lake. Never fished it but have heardcthere is a good crappie population there. My old barber duck hunted it and fly fished it for some big bluegills.

Welcome, Schell, from LOZ. Sorry, I can't help you on the fishing down there, but sure someone on here will give you some insight.

If I remember right....There is a north and south lake. I used to bass fish it a lot. The south lake is the one you want to start with. They pull a lot of fish out of it. There is a camp ground there with boat ramp. Oh! also there is a tube that spills from one lake to another that gets hot this time of year..........just look for the vehicles on both sides of the road. Its been a long time ago since I have been there-hope I didn't steer ya wrong-B.B.
    Crappie.......its whats for dinner!!
