Hi all, im from southern Cali. And was an avid bass fisherman when i lived in LA, I recently moved to Louisiana for a job and really got into cappie fishing. I was wondering how is the crappie fishing in California, and where are the hot spots. I will be coming back in about 2 yrs, so i was just curious about it.

Not yet, but one of these days I would love to. I know it is suppose to be one of the top lakes in CA but it is a 10hr drive from where I live.
Orange County.
I live down San Diego way and can attest to the crappie fishing being good down here. El Capitan, Lake Henshaw and Lower Otay are picking up decent numbers with Lower Otay being the best producer so far. Lake Hodges turned over and they had a huge shad die off. I'm not sure how that is going to affect the fishery this year but so far the counts have been real low. Has produced real well in the past for me though so I hope it can bounce back.
Crappie Shocker we should do some fishing sometime OC is not that far...
