Default Minnows; jig heads or hooks ?

When fishing for crappie under a float, which is a better set up; minnow hooked on a 1/16 jig head or hooked on a aberdeen hook ? -Thanks

I started putting my minnows on my jig heads last summer, just didn't want to take the time to switch to a hook and weight. Several people who fished with me thought it was crazy, however I catch just as many fish as I did before. I now prefer to put a minnow on a jig head, it's easier to put down into brush and cedars. Just give it a shot for a few trips and see how it works for you.

The jig head setup will keep the minnow from swimming around and twisting onto branches.Try a Crappi Candle also to draw the crappie out of the brush instead of fishing right in the middle of the pile.
