I want to learn how to fish for crappie at night. I have a 17 foot aluminum boat.
I am looking for info such as how many lights, what type of lights, locations, baits, how long it takes for the crappie to find the lights, etc.
Any tips or techniques would be appreciated.

Rango has a great article on this subject. I guess that when it comes to the lights everyone has their own favs and I like the one I sell which is the Nucli-Eye Aurora LED
Crappie Fish Attracting Light. Green Light
One reason I like these is very low battery use since they are LED, but not normal LED lights and they are Green. While not cheap, they are also just about indestructible.
Also I am not the one who makes them, but you can talk to them by sending a PM to Jumping Cholla Jigs and he has a thread on this board about the Hummingbird SI's.

A good place to start is any place with good timber in 25 30 ft range trees with good branches on it . I use two lights one in the front And one in the rear and i just use old fatihful lights the old floating headlight it takes about an hour for everything to start working when you start seeing baitfish swimming around in bunches the crappie won't be far behind . And just fish in the shadows of the light not directly in the light and you should have some good success. IF not move to another spot try again. That should help i little bit.
