Default Using 'Ugly Sticks' for Crappie rods?

I'm looing for a crappie rod for my wife. I will be going to BPS this weekend and see they have them on sale. Would a 6'6'' light spinning rod be good for crappie?? She would be using with jigs under a bobber and minnows. Thanks

i started out with those cheap walmart combo's. i broke several so i got 4 ugly sticks. in the last 4 or 5 years the only i have done to then is on 1 i broke the ceramic out of the tip. i replaced it and it still catches fish. they are almost indestructable. i still have them... i think my brother is using them now. i am currently using 5ft shakespere rods from academy, bought on sale for $9.88. but in response to your question. an ugly stick should work.

Whuppin Sticks from Cabelas are almost identical, lifetime warranty, and cheaper!

I have a Pinnacle version of the ugly stick it is a five foot ultra light if you are interested I have my wife rigged up with two of them and she has caught some big cats on them and they are pretty much indestructible just like the shakespeare. Let me know if you might want the rod

Ugly sticks would work fine but you could also check out the Zebco indestructible rods lifetime if it breaks send it back and get a new one.

Make sure you take the reel you want to put on the rod WITH YOU, nothing is more irritating than buying a rod and the reel won't fit right on it.

I have a couple of ugly stick pro light 6.5 ft caught alot of big catfish on them (20 to 30 lb) pretty sure they will stand up to crappie. have replaced the end guides a few times, usally my fault.

If that's the case, check out the Bass Pro Microlites and the Wally Marshall rods in the same lengths. They're in the same price range and, IMO, better for casting jigs than the Ugly Stik.
