Went out for a few hours with Pop,(Father-in-Law). He caught a small bass on a visible brushtop. We didn't get another bite trying several brushpiles down to 10 feet deep. The water temp is at 51 degrees in the main lake and it was almost whitecapping today. Trolling motor switch kept getting stuck in the on position. That made trying to stay on top of a brushpile very interesting!
The lake that we fish is relatively shallow, very muddy, and has about a 25 to 30 foot deep river channel in it. The flats are usually less than 10 feet deep.
This is the hardest time of year for me to catch fish here. Ant body else fish any lakes similar to this one and if so where are you finding fish right now?
We did take time to put in a large stake bed though. I recently built a PVC stake driver and really like how it works. Built the whole stakebed in just a few minutes.:

It wont be long over there. I am looking at it picking up in 7- 10 days. As soon as the wind dies down and I kick this cold I will be on the water scoutin.
Was that a bite? Forgot what they feel like!
If we ever become 100% efficient at catching fish every time we go out it wouldn't be any fun. Getting skunked keeps us thinking and plottin on how to get them.

I ain't been out in so long that I will haveta get some new sea legs.:o
