Default San Carlos Arizona 19 Feb 09

Christian and Brian played hooky from school and work today to keep me company at San Carlos. Boy did we have a good day fishing for our little speckled friends. We launched from Soda Canyon @ 0730 and made the 20 min ride to the opposite side of the lake in 32 degree bliss. Once we got to the CORRECT point we put the trolling motor down and started to troll. I had received a tip the night before that the morning bite insane and was the place to be, boy let me tell you that person was right. We had boated at least 30 fish by 0900 and didn't have time between casts to tip with minnows or Crappie nibbles it was that furious. The the bite slowed a bit and we continued to fish all over the east end of the lake. We fished in 13-20 FOW and the fish were suspended mid column most of the time. We ended up leaving the lake by 1300 to miss the traffic back in the valley. We ended up keeping 40 nice Crappie and threw back another 30 at least. It was a great day and good times with friends and family. I can't wait to go back Saturday and thash them again.

BTW make sure you bring plenty of snacks for the ride home. They are "blasting" on SR 60 and we waited for a good 45 minutes to be able to make the pass by where the construction was, so that put us in the valley square in the middle of the traffice we were trying to avoid. Needless to say a normally 2 1/2 hour drive took almost 5 hours.

Out of curiosity, what was the water temp?

Good job out there. Maybe I should make a pilgrimage from Cali over to AZ. What is the water temp over there?

    Default Wow!

What a nice mess of fish there and some nice slabs. Way to catch them.
