My favorite knots:
1. Palomar
2. Trilene
3. Improved Loop
Each one has it's own applications.
I use the Palomer Knot but have been considering using a loop knot to give the jig more movement.

I use a palomar loop almost all the time.
Since there seems to be different loop knots, I assume the loop knot being mentioned is one to create an open loop, as shown at the following:
What Fishing Knots are Used For
It shows different knots recommended to attach line to a hook.
Attach Line to Eye/Hook/Lure with a Loop
Attach Line to Hook with an Improved Clinch Knot
Attach line to Hook using a Palomar Loop
Attach Line to Hook with a Rapala Knot
Attach Line to Hook with a Trilene Knot
Attach line to Hook using the Uni Knot Loop
Create Open Loop in the End of a Leader
Make a Neat Loop in the Standing End (Perfection Loop)
Make a Loop in the Standing End (Surgeon's Loop)
Just curious if the loop knot is to create an open loop or not?
I use Palomar on all my crankbaits and Walleye rigs. Everthing else gets a loop knot for the reason mentioned above.

i think that the type knot you use depends on the type of fishing you are doig. you might possibly use a different knot trolling, spider rigging, long lining, vertical fishing, casting , shooting docks. the type of knot might change in each of those situations. personally i only use 2 knots. a palomar or a uni knot. both work well for me.
I use all the above, depends on the situation.
