    looking to get into trolling and thought about spinning or bait casters and what the best rig would be

    I went with the small bait cast style simply because of cost. All I will be doing is slow trolling shallow water.

    Depends on what kind of trolling you're talking about. My slow trolling rods have cheap spinning reels from Grizzly Jig.
    About $6.00 each.
    Power trolling crankbaits, I use Cabela's line counter reels.

    Diawa line counters and my old walleye trolling rods for cranks and Diawa acudepth line counters on BnM trolling rids for longline and spider rigging.
