greetings from chatham ga a new addict to it
well thanks to a member allenw i can now hang out with you folks. so were to began. i am really a rookie at this crappie thing been mostly fishing for bream and now have gotten the bug for crappie fishing. i have all ready gotten a few things for crappie fishing. but right now i will be only doing bank and some local creek fishing until i can get my boat up and running again so any tips that yall can pass on for this new addiction i sure would appreciate it. also if any one knows the ogechee or savannah river would you aslo chime in i have been want to learn those two rivers for some time now. thanks.

I can help a little with those rivers. I have been fishing them for years. There are a couple spots in the Savannah River that usually pay off this time of year, but you need a boat to get there. I have a spot in the Ogeechee that you can access from shore. It is a tidal area so you have to hit it on the slack tide.
Another place to consider for bank fishing is the Evans County PFA. There are three ponds there. The first one has some decent crappie. Then you also have George Smith State Park up by Twin City, about an hour from you. You can rent a boat or canoe and get up around the cypress trees and catch some nice crappie.

Welcome from West Texas. I fished the Ogechee & Savannah rivers with an older gentelman about 40 years ago. There was a little landing with a bait store & boat rental outside Savannah on the Ogechee that we used to load up on red breast every time out. Lots of fun with a 16' cane pole & crickets, I sure miss that part of the country.
There was a good little bass lake on a game refuge just across the talmage bridge in the edge of South Carolinathat was great.
Thanks for your post, it brought back good old memories.
