for your first time, id go slow because the river channel meanders all the way up. on top of that, about 3/4 of the way up there are big bolders as well to watch out for. id be careful if i was you.
I'm trying to learn some of the area lakes around here. i was wondering if it is safe to take a boat all the way up to the norman dam from the mt. island lake side. by safe, i mean water depth, rocks, etc. any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Blade9818,
If you will stay in the middle of the river all the way to the highway 73 bridge you'll be in the clear. After the bridge stay to the left of the channel and keep a watch on the depth finder. MAJOR PROP HAZARDS AFTER YOU CROSS THE BRIDGE. Once the bottom starts dropping your good to go. What are you wanting to fish for at the dam? I have fished there once or 200 times.
