    Default Hello from N. Alabama

Hi guys. New member here. Just wanted to say what an awesome site you guys run. I'm very impressed at the wealth of knowledge shared here and I really enjoy reading about the different techinques each of you use. I have lurked here for a couple years, but finally decided to join on up. I live just a couple minutes from the Big G and most of my fishing is for crappies. I catch most of my fish casting jigs and shooting docks. That said, I am especially interested in learning to longline troll. Do any of you have any suggestions as to what poles I should look into? I have looked at BnMs, WMs, ProAnglers, etc., but there just seems to be so many choices and I assume many of these poles are purpose specific. I'm looking for general, all purpose type rods that will be good to learn with, and not break the bank. I would even be interested in buying some used poles if anyone has any laying around that they're not using. I am also looking at installing some rod holders on my boat. I like the looks of the hi-teks, but am open to suggestions here as well. Thanks in advance for your responses. Hopefully you'll let me stick around. jd640.

Hiteks are good holders. I've seen them in action. You can get multiple bases and move them around your boat for a quick change from pushing to long lining or vice versa. I like the Wally Marshall's and BnM's both pretty well. I have some of both ranging in lengths from 8-18 ft. Doubt you could go wrong with either. I don't know much about the pro anglers, but people seem to like them pretty.

Go ahead and get the hi-tek rod holders and be done with it. I have used about all of them out there and I now have hi-tek and love them they are strong and very easy to adjust. as far as poles I use BnM and have had good luck and service with them. I use the pro staff.hope this helps.
