Won't be fishing this weekend either. Too much traffic.
Dennis:
We went to the Hollow this week and fished for
bluegills...down on the lower section in Horse
Creek and other smaller inlets off the main channel.
Do you often fish for bluegills there? If so,
do you find that the average 'gill on Dale Hollow seems
larger than other TN lakes? We often get 20-30 gills
in the 8-10 inch range.
Every once in awile I run into those monster gills, not as often as i'd like though, .Originally Posted by tnvol
what is your favorite gill bait?I used to use crickets but they are just too much of a bother.Jumbo redworms are my favorite now.Every once in awile when I can find them bee moths and a small 1/32 oz jig on a slip bobber does good, but too many small ones also.
I think it depends alot on the areas you fish, but on an average i"d say their bigger.I have 2 mounted on a mount #1-11",#2 10 3/4"-tried to upload pic but it said my file size was to large? Not to good at this uploading!! AS for my favorite way to catch em-1/2 a nightcrawler on a #2 hook,1 splitshot bb. tightline it moving slowly-if theres one there its going to eat it!! Kygorski :
We have been using the large mealworms with good
success. Crickets are always good..but like you said,
the worms are less problems. Like Dennis..we also use
1/2 nightcrawler when in grassy areas. They seem to
stay on the hook better..and the average size fish seems
to be better, also.
Dennis:
The tightline method is what works for us, too...usually
throwing into the shallows..and working it back as deep
as 25 ft often. Just have to be careful not to throw it too
shallow..as the small ones seem to hang around the rocks.
Keep up the reports on Dale Hollow..love them!
