Default Surprised At August A. Busch

I took my son 9 and my nephew 7 fishing today. It was very nice out. No wind at all. I was at the lake for about 4 hours. I spent 3 hours tying knots and undoing tangles for the kids. I did get a little fishing in though. At about 2:45 I caught a nice slab. 12.5 inches I was surprised........ most of the time I just catch dinks over there. The kids were very excited and want me to rig their poles up the same way I was rigged. I decided I would hookem up. My son casted out and then snagged a tree and broke off. I rigged him up again and about 5 minutes later he broke off again. To make a long story short. I finally got both kids hooked up with a slip cork and set the depth where they wouldn't get snagged up again. It was 4:00 at this time 1 hour and 15 minutes since I caught the slab!!!! Man was I wanting to get my rig back in the water after catching that nice fish. Once I finally did I didn't catch anything for at least 30 minutes and they were all dinks. The boys didn't catch a single fish and that really stinks. I like to hook them up with live minows but the boys don't like sitting and waiting they like casting. So for some reason the jigs are too hard for the boys to catch fish with. I did really well and caught all the fish. I think they just need a little more practice. Enjoy the pic.

It's great to catch them but it's more fun to teach your son/nephew and enjoy the time with them. They'll never forget the time that you spent with them.
