I love the Garmin ETREX ,easy to operate. I use the cheap yellow one. There are a bunch on ebay for bids and some on websites well under 100.00

I use an ETREX also and it works well. Knowing what I know now I wish I had spent the extra bucks and got the model with the electronic compass and barometric altimeter.

i agree with slabbandit as i believe that one also has a s/d card slot, more options, the one i have doesn't but works just fine,,,i just lay mine on the dash when traveling and it works ok,,don't need the talking one as i most often go to google earth and plan out my route before hand, good luck

I have the Lowrance XOG and it is a nice unit for the price, it is rite on when in the car as far as location, it does takes some out of the way routes though. I plan on getting a hot spot lake map SD card but have not gotten around to 1 yet
