So if i buy a permit where does this money go? Is it used for makeing our fishing better or does it go in someones pocket to never be seen again? What happen if you get caught putting out condos without their permit?
There has been discussions on crappie condos and permits to sink them. I started calling around the IDNR and tracked down the guy that knows. I talked to BOB. He is in fish bio. Here is what I found out on sinking condos.
There are only 3 yes 3 lakes that you do not have to have a permit.
Lake Shafer
Lake Freeman
Wolf lake (never been there)
I Fish Freeman and Shafer. So I get a free bee!
The rest require a permit. From what I gather a permit cost $100.00 to sink condos.
Yeh a $100.00. I do not know if they are for a year or forever permits.
All structures must be at LEAST 8' deep. If someone gets hurt on YOUR structure you are libel.
Here is a phone number to call if you have any questions.

So now you know. If you are going to sink stuff legally it is going to cost you!

I spoke with someone at INDR and they said it did require a permit, but in so many words I would be wasting my time. It sounds as though they are not given out regularly, or not at all. This was especially true if there is an "association" on the lake which is true of probably about any lake with houses on it.

bill when you get those set send me a marked map ok buddy. lol
Much as I hate to say it, I agree with River Scum.
I do not know what others think about these association on public waters, but they do not own these lakes. I understand that we need rules to protect these waters from miss use. At the same time we as tax payers and license holders have rights also.
