    Default Which State Can Lay Claim

    to being known as the top crappie state in the nation? living happily here in kansas i know we're as passionate as anywhere, the criteria should include
    * statewide distribution
    *angler participation
    * availibilty
    *sucess per acre
    * consistant sizes above legal limits (say 10" for argument sake)

    that being said i know kansas is up there but i wonder if the crown doesn't belong to arkansas. just check that board. the sucess/size rate looks amazing

    I Fish Here In Missouri On Truman Lake Mostly But Have Been To A Lot Of Kansas Lakes And They Are Very Good If The Wind Isn't 30 Mph. Caught A Ton Of Nice 13" To 15" In Pommona.... Caught A Lot Of 12" To 14" In Truman, But Have Only Caught 8 That Went Over 2 Lbs. In 28 Years Of Fishing Truman..... But Them Arkansas Crappie Look Big To Me And Lots Of Post With Them Big Ones On There, They Aren't Using The Same Ones Are They???? I Been South But You Got To Catch It Just Right To Haul In The Big Ones......

    Tennessee has the best all around fisheries by far. Can't keep the Yankees out of the state any more because of fishing quality. Most my neighbors are now Yankees. Got 'em from Utah to New York.:rolleyes:

    Arkansas is good but I'll have to go with Georgia of course.

    Default Judge by the BIG ones

    how many lakes produce specs over 3 lbs? in a year
    how many lakes produce specs over 4 lbs? in a decade!
    no one counts fish per acre in a lake, what they do count is BIG fish and my vote goes for Virginia, 3 lb fish caught every year and sometimes a 4# whale of a big one.

    Until someone can come up with a 6 crappie stringer, from a public lake, beating 18lbs. 9oz. (pics on Arkansas big fish board) I'm going with Arkansas!

    What a silly little thread. Everyone knows the answer to this one. Missouri of course. And all these rumors you hear about big fish in MS and having a highway with a string of 5 lakes with world class fishing over a stretch of 200 miles without even mentioning the numerous oxbows with phenominal fishing over on the river is just all bunk.....vicious lies dreamed up by tourism folks angling to make their bonuses every year. It's all just make believe dreamed up to siphon money from lattitudinally challenged fishermen. Save your money and drive over to MO is what I recommend.
