    Default Ohio River Tributeries

I have been talking to some fellows who say they arefrom Meade County and westarted talking aout fishing for crappie and hitting Rough River. They all said they almost never go and head straight to some of the small creeks coming off of the Ohio River out near the Hardinsburg area. Anyone ever try it? I have never had much luck as a kid fishing Harrods Creek for crappie but thought these guys seemed pretty sincere. I was looking for a little change from the normal Rough River weekday trip and thought these creeks sounded pretty good. I go to KY Lake a lot on weekends but head to Rough River ususally when I only have a day to go and not a full weekend.

I don't know about your area, but up here the tribs produce a lot of good fish. I would bet they do down river also.

Craigs Creek on the Ohio has some good crappie, but not sure about the ice right now.

    Hey Jigboy,
I've given up on Taylorsville, Nolinn and Patoka and been fishin tributaries of the Ohio all this past year. I've been much more successful and had some really good fishing. There are a whole bunch of em west of Louisville down around Cannelton. There's also a geat bait shop there - Big Tales Bait & Tackle - Jimmy Hagan is the owner and he's a grreat guy with lots of info. Tell him Pastor Ted sent you.

I wouldn't give up on Patoka entirely. Some great fishin' to be had there.

Thanks for the info. Ted, good to hear from you. What day is it that you have off work? I got Fridays off now but couldn't remember what day you were free.

    Jigboy,
Generally I'm off on Fridays, depending of course on funerals and emergancies. Lets go together some time this spring. Right now the wife has grounded me until I get the bathroom refinished - some things just aren't right.

    Bassky,
You're right about keeping it to ourselves. We don't want every Tom, Dick and Harry catching our fish.
