    Cool Recommendations on best FishFinders?

I am going to be purchasing 2 new fish finders for our boat and have not been happy with the ones I have. We have a Hummingbird and and Eagle and neither seems to be useful at all except to see how deep the water is. I would like to have one that truely shows where there are fish and not phantoms that ALWAYS are there whether you are catchiing or not. Any recommendations?

Welcome from Truman lake. Many options out there. Like Bugman said it all comes down to how deep the pocket book is. I like Lowrance. But you will find a lot of Hummingbird folks on here also.

I use the Humminbird 997 CSI - awsome unit the best ever made. I also have a humminbird 717 on the front of my boat, I've been very impressed with the clarity and it's ability to pick up brush, etc... It is a great unit and runs about $200.

I am getting ready to replace a Garmin 400C on the front of my boat. Found out that they make a cable to hook up any unit I want with the same transducer in my Motorguide. So I am in the market also. I will have a near new 400C for sale cheap. Not bad unit just not what I am use to looking at.

Welcome from Springfield.......I have a garmin also. Still trying to figure out what I'm seeing. I do have a pet name for it, The Big Liar. Shows fish everywhere and can't get a Bite. Thats my fault, not the garmin.
I just KNOW it was a big one!!!

We joke all the time that a fish finder is nothing more than a continuous loop of graphics.........kinda like the old 8 track tapes...eventually you see the same picture again.:D
Progressive Marine Insurance SUCKS!. If you hit a submerged object they will try to prove manufacturers defect....stay away from them.

    Welcome from LOZ.

I have a couple of eagle (by Lorance). Nothing fancy but I do like the color unit for contrast on stuff. Works good on structure, not real sure on locating fish.

Good luck, you will get the info you need on this site.
