i have used moth balls and they work great .... if yopu put them in the boat dont put them on the carpet as they will stain it...i would just throw them on the ground around the boat
I know this has been discussed some in the past, however; when I tried the search mode, didn't come up with much to answer my question.
I keep my boat covered inside a 4-bay pole barn at a friends house. We've been having trouble with mice getting inside of our boats. Not quite sure how the things are even getting inside, since we are careful not to leave anything hanging to the ground.
I've read moth balls and bounce dryer sheets work well to repel them. Has anyone actually tried this? and does it really work? Any other noteworthy remedies other than stalking them with a boat paddle.

Think I would put out poison under the boat and around if nothing else can get them little granules.

I keep out those bait blocks in my shop that kills them.

Poison works a mouse may die in your boat. Moth balls work and no dead mouse they just repel. Dryer sheets is a new one to me but may very well work. I haven't tried it but my son uses peppermint to repel mice. So if you don't like the smell of mothballs there is another possibility. Mothballs will also repel insects.

I would try the mothballs around the boat and put me some deacon in the boat. Thats what I would do.
can't catch'em at home
I use the mothballs and the bounce dryer sheets. I get the sandwich 'baggies' and put about 6 or 7 mothballs in the bag, set upright, 1 bag per compartment, and 1 bag at each end of the boat in the open fishing area. Same deal with the dryer sheets. On the outside on the ground I made some pvc bait holders that I regularly put in the bait chunks. Been doing this for almost 20 years and haven't hada problem with mice in the winter. And yes, when you open the compartment you'll have the smell of mothballs, but I live with it. It goes away after a while and I'd rather have the smell than the after effects of the mice.
There is a product called Cab Fresh some people are using but I haven't heard any reports about it yet.
make sure you plug your livewells on the outside and inside..i have heard from a guy at work that sometimes they crawl thru the drains..dont know how they get to em or get thru em..i guess they squeeze..
