They are all good as long as they say "Minn Kota" on them.

I've had both motor guide and minn kota - Minn Kota wins hands down!

Smaller ones I would choose Minn Kota. For larger units it is not even up for conversation for me, Motor Guide. I have had too many Minn Kotas break in comparison to Motor Guides on My bass boats. I am pretty sure it comes down to a chevy vs ford deal. There are good and bad ones out there.

    Smile Motor Guide

I have had the minn kota, the evrinude, and now the pro 70 12 24 motor guide and I wouldn't trade the motor guide for two of either of the other ones......... just my 2 cents......

Motorguide Pro Series 82. Just because I like the foot pedal better than the MinnKota. Both good units.

The jurys still out for me i've always used and had excellent service out of motor guides but now have a mk,time will tell if the mk holds up but i definatly like the motor guide petal better........like bcm said ford vs chevy they're both good.

Had a Motor Guide and it was a battery eatin' SOB. Fell apart on me. That was 20 yrs ago. I still think how bad that motor was. Switched to the Minn Kota Power Drive. Turned too slow but was great for trolling.
Now have a Minn Kota Maxxum. Very pleased with it.

Last boat I was in that had a less than three year old Motor Guide on it. The rubber piece where the cables and wires going in was peeling out to where you could see all the guts. I thought they still make junk after seeing that. Goes to show that once you get a mind set on something, it's hard to change.

One thing for sure is I like variable speed drive so I can dial in my trollin' motor. That five speed crap is for the birds.

If'n is was to get another trolling motor, I would look at Terrova just cuz it has the autopilot for trollin' and a decent enough quick turn when tryin to hold over brush in 20 mph winds.

If your a troller. Minn Kota for sure. If you single pole and hold in place, either would be all right
