    This is my set up

I like my rod tips to be about a foot off of the water, I like 12 foot rods, 8 of them off the front. I use B&M jigging poles.

I would get another rod holder if you are going to spider rig.

I would go to the side opposite of the trolling motor if you wind up enjoying it like i've been it won't take long to get another set its addicting. I started out with 4 rods after a couple trips up to 8, now I usually push 8 and pull 8if the fish are suspended.Like said earlier about a foot off the water is what I like as well.I would go with a 14' or 12' and go with the longest to shortest this will keep your bait farthest from the trolling motor., that way you have staggered lengths so you could long line with the same rods if you like!!!

If you can get a extra base just put one on both sides of the boat and move the holder thats what I do when someone is in the back of my boat until I can get 2 more setups. I Havent really been able to keep up with 8 poles at one time yet anyways so I end up just using the one over my depth finder.

Yea man mount it in the middle. That's what I did. I can't keep up with 8 rods you know. Here's mine.
