Better to have the power and not use it than need it and not have it!

I bought one last spring. If you troll get the 4 stroke engine. I got the stock 50 hp 2 cycle. It is a very good engine.but wont idle slower than 1.7-1.9 mph. It is very easy on gas but I am not one of the go fast crowd. I love how stable the boat is on rough water.Top speed in my boat is around 28 mph with a full gas tank.

I got a Lowe 175 Stringer it`s a 1996 model been a great boat. It has a 50hp Johnson 2 stroke. Very cold nature motor. Once it warms up starts great. I would go with a 4 stroke for sure. As far as being built I can`t complain it has the aluimium floor no wood thats nice.

Aways go with the maximum horsepower the boat is rated for if you can. That will deliver optimum performance for the boat...or so I have always been told...

I have a 4 stroke & its great. Previous boat had a 2 stroke. hard starting most of the time. 4 stroke easy starting & very easy on gas.

I love my four stroke 115.
Doesn't smoke and stink at start up.

I highly recommend fuel injection instead of carburetor too.

    Welcome to the board.
