Default clearing paint from jighead eyes

Hey guys! This is my first time to post. I get online alot and just read posts. I really enjoy learning about the different ways that guys build crappie beds.
I have found a great way to clear the paint from the eyes on painted jig heads. What I do is take a drywall screw and twist it while it is pushed into the eye of the jig. This actually will pull the paint off the eye.
This works better for me than trying to push something sharp into the eye.

That should work better than the jig eye cleaner that looks like nail clippers. I sometimes use a large hook, but I am gonna throw a few drywall screws in my box now .

Welcome to the board Slabbandit. That sounds like a good idea, I'll have to try it. I have however, found a better way. Buy your jigs from some of the people here that make them. They do outstanding work, the price is reasonable and no paint in the holes. I'm always looking for an easier softer way. LOL

    Default Cleaning jig eye

    Welcome to the board Slabbandit
I took your idea one step further. I took small piece of dowel and a screw similar to sheet rock screw that i use in wood working. Inserted the screw into the dowel so the dowel acts as a handle.

Have to agree with Bill like jigs that don't have eye painted shut.

Some food for thought, though. When you use a screw to remove paint, you are also messing up the hook eye by making marks on it. Whis could lead to loosing more hooks, because of the abraision effect from the now marred up eye. I use the point of a fingernail file on a pair of clippers. I only push it thru, but don't twist it, as it could marr up the eye. Would hate to loose a slab because of something wrong with the eye, that was caused by me. Would rather buy jigs with no paint on the eye also, and use BigZigs Jigs, who is a member of this forum.
