Charger Problems

Can't figure out what's going on with my onboard charger. Have a two bank Bass Pro XPS. Pluged in and the LED lights were as usual. Got up the next morning to go fishing and only the blue light was lit up. Needless to say the batteries were not charged. Replaced one battery with a new one. Pluged in the charger and evertyhing looked good. The "go fish" light was lit. Few hours later checked it and only the blue like was lit. Since I don't have the manual, can any of you guys tell me whats going on when the charger is showing only the blue LED.

I almost bought one of those today but I am going to stick with my die hard charger.My dad had one for 20 years befoere it stopped working.

Blue indicates AC power is present and unit is on. The lights on mine quit working period but my batteries were charged. I took it back to Bass Pro and they gave me a new one. No receipt but they exchanged it . It was 1 1/2 years old. Good luck

My XPS is about 3 years old and still works fine. BTW, Pro Mariner makes them for BPS.

You might, also, ask them to send you a manual.....

It is a silly question but have you checked your fuses and connections yet? You can also use a volt-ohm meter on the battery to see if the charger is working. You should read 13v-14v depending on what charging phase the charger is in. If it is less than 12.5v, the charger is not working.

I have a single bank XPS for my starting battery and a dual bank Guest for my trolling motor batteries (the dual bank was plenty until I upgraded to a 24v trolling motor). Both have been trouble free.

After your batteries are drained down so low, the on board charger is not designed to pick your batteries back up. Put a regular batt. charger on for a few hours and then hook your on board back up and you will be fine. I have had this experience before and this was the problem. You probably did not charge your batteries for a while and they drained all the way down. It's a good idea to plug your on board in every couple of weeks or so.

All the newer "smart" chargers are designed to be on as long as you are not using the boat. They will NOT overcharge your battery.

Mine are plugged in 24/7.....except, of course, when I'm fishing...
