    Default Carcasses at the ramp

Anybody else in here occasionally see where people clean or filet their catch right at the boat ramp leaving carcasses everywhere in the shallow water's edge?

    Wouldn't that be considered 'littering'?

Yea, I've seen it. Doesnt do any of us sportsman any good for that to be lying around either. If people are going to clean their fish at the lake they should haul their buckets out to deeper water if they intend on dumping the carcasses into the lake before they load their boats up. Legal?!? No idea. Never asked but I do know on some of the lakes I've been on a few have fish cleaning stations that dumps right into the lakes. I would suppose the birds/turtles/raccoons/catfish and the such would take care of any remains they can find. To me it just doesnt look good around boat ramps for everyone to see.

Yeah I'm right ther with Gabowman on it not presenting a very good impression of fisherman, and the lake inhabitants will take care of it fine. Have had to launch the boat a few time with carcasses floating around my feet and didn't appreciate that much.

Legality probably goes with the state/country DNR/ fish and game depts.

Only a bone head would do something like that there are people out there that just don't care how their actions reflect on others,or how it affects others.

Nature will take care of it, but no way should you dump it at the ramp. Do it in 30 feet of water on your way back to the ramp.

I tend to agree with you guys.....doesn't really look good

I think it takes away from the beauty of the lake's edge...

I dump my carcasses back into my rivers and lakes all the time but never at a boat launch and never in shallow water. Someone needs a lesson on asthetics and what a visitor the lake will think when they see something like that. Maybe get F&W or DNR to post signs educating people on the right way to do it.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

I slipped and fell in the water at the HWY 79 east ramp at Guntersville on Mon. That was probably the biggest, ugliest carcass that ramp has ever seen. Oh, and it had to be the one time a year my wife goes with me.

I don't particularly like see them in the water close to the ramp but. it is better to be there than in the garbage bins stinking it up.
