old info. They also show a Blue cat at 118 lbs, but we know that's been broken twice since then.
Did a little looking and now I am really confused.
Here are 3 sources:
Crappie, Black - 5 lb. 1 oz./Crappie, White - 5 lb. 3 oz.

So where and what is the real World Records?

John 21:3
Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We are going with you also." They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.
And we act like this Nightstalking thing is new.
For some excitment, read the next verse. A special guest arrived, they filled their coolers and had a fish fry on the beach...in the morning. My kind of people.- Bowfin
Good question.....I've done the research myself on record crappie and always end up going in circles. Confusin', ain't it Skip.......There are discrepancies everywhere, but one of the most obvious is the AR state record which is classified as a black crappie, when in fact it looks to be a white. I've fished in AR for almost 14 years, and saw the mount in a Cafe in Ola and took photos of it. If it's not a white crappie, then the taxidermist was doing a bit of freelancing in painting the fish to look like one. :D I emailed AGFC with the pics and they replied; [Quote] "We will pull the files and see if we can find where the mistake was made, and will get back to you with what we find." Several months have passed and still no word. Take a look at the pic, it sure don't look like a black crappie to me!Originally Posted by skiptomylu

I am VERY certain that the 4 lb 14 oz crappie caught by that lady IS NOT the new world record. It may be the new Kentucky State Record, but NOT the world record. I noticed that they had misprinted this as well.
I won't be at work........I'm feelin' crappie today!

It can drive you crazy. The NC Wildlife Resources Commission has only one listing for crappie.Crappie4 lbs 15 ozAsheboro City Lake #44/27/80Dean DixonMinnow

The problem is that there is no single clearing house for freshwater records. Whoever catchs the fish has to submit an application to the appropriate agency. If I were to catch a record and only submitted the catch to NCWRC, then it would never be recorded with any national organization. Then for all these other web sites to get the information someone would need to notify them or they would need to update their own files somehow. IGFA has their records and each state has records. I think you would need to go to every state Wildlife Commission site and compile a current list of record fish. This would have to be monitored constantly to be kept up todate.
Labill--that looks like a pretty poor mount if I ever saw one. Not natural looking at all. Expect that fish to turn its head toward me and say something any minute
