I am the official go-fer boat rigger assistant and historian for the imfamous Jerry Blake's Action Fishing Trips, lol. So, here goes, enjoy and hopefully this all will bring a smile to your face.

Thursday last week we left for Oklahoma to pick up Jerry's new Blue Wave. Got home about 10:30 and then up at 5:00 to take some folks fishing. Friday, we both guided all day. We ABSOLUTELY killed'em. Between the two boats we caught 75 slab crappie, a 22" walleye and other. Saturday morning, we were both up before before dawn and worked 16 hours rigging this boat. The last 2 hours were FINALLY on the water for the "Gray Ghost's" maiden voyage (we called it something else, but I will refrain). The pictures below are the progress as the day went. You are looking at a boat that had never been in the water yet; the motor didn't even have it's first 5 quarts of oil. Man is it sweet!

It's a Blue Wave. Oh, and to make sure everyone knows, it's name is "The Gray Ghost" in honor/memory of Lee Roy Rodgers and his favorite jig - a gray hair jig with red thread neck. Yeah Bill, didn't see it before, but it is Navy Gray, lol.

Really nice boat. I wish I had one like it. It does look like an offshore rig. I love the room you've got and the walk-around console.

Bass boats are not the best type boat to crappie fish but for in the spring when you do more casting. But this type boat you have looks like it is setup for the customer and crappie fishing year around.
Now have a brass plate made for the center console "The Gray Ghost" in honor & memory of Lee Roy.

I like it Jerry! If I can sweet talk Hollie into to letting me come down down there this fall, you'll have to put me on some Hot Springs Slabs! Glad you finally got your rig! Have fun bud!

Thanks everyone! And a real big THANK YOU to Darryl for helping me get the Gray Ghost rigged.

We both felt like we'd been beaten up after spending two long days climbing in and out, crawling in, over and around and straining to reach way up under the decks. We installed all the seats, the trolling motor, two graphs, an aerator for the bait tank, fishing and storage rod holders and three batteries with battery trays. Also had to pull wires for all the electronic equipment.

I "worked" out of her for the second time this morning and I'm getting used to her. Shes set up a lot like the Kenner I sold Darryl but much more comfortable and convenient for my clients and myself. Now I have swivel seats with backrests for everyone (had people sitting on the upholstered livewell and bait tank before) and the livewell is under the front deck, which makes it real convenient to get to after unhooking a fish.

The Gray Ghost is 22-feet long and 8-feet wide with a capacity of 9-people (Ill only take six besides myself) and 1950 pounds and has about 10-inches of draft.

She is powered by a !40 HP Suzuki Four Stroke - a very sweet motor. The trolling motor is a 24-volt, 70-pound thrust hand controlled Minn Kota Maxxum with the new 3X steering and has a foot switch that can be used whether sitting or standing. The motor turns three times as far as the handle, which is taking some getting used to but will be real nice.

We put a Humminbird 565 on the front with the transducer on the trolling motor and a Lowrance LCX-17M on the console with the transducer on the transom. I'm still getting used to the grahps.

Took a look at the pictures of the new boat and all the work you guys were doing. Great looking aboat. I am sure that all the work you have put into her will pay off over the coming years.

One thing that stood out was the two Dewalt Portable Drills. That bright yellow color can't be missed. Some else said that they saw a coor beer can laying there too. LOL

If I ever need to rewire a boat I know two people to call. :)

Have fun with that new boat.

PS: I love the name and the boat will always remind everyone of Leroy. I got the opportunity to meet Leroy at the first Teezur tournament and he made me feel very comfortable and was very friendly to me. I know that he is up in heaven looking down on you and Darryl and smiling on you guys.

Best Wishes to you guys.

PSS: Looking forward to hearing more stories about your furture fishing trips.
