    Default Evinrude E-Tech Question

If your e-tech is program for the synthetic oil (been using the xd-100) can you use the synthetic hp injector Amsoil.Just wanted to know if you could switch from evinrude oil to amsoil and not hurt your motor.

Here is a good place to ask and recieve an educated answer.

    Main: BBC Boards

Scroll down to the Evinrude/Johnson board.

If your E-tec is programmed to XD-100...noway unless you are not worried about warranty. If it is not set to XD-100 I would guess you'd be fine. I read on another board how a guy was using Pennzoil synthetic in his E-tec that was programmed to XD-100. He started having alot of problems with his outboard and when he took it in for warranty it was declined. If you want to use a different oil, I'd suggest getting your E-tec programmed so you don't have to use the XD-100.

I was told when I had mine set for XD-100 day one, that anything other then EX-100 would void the warrant. But leave it set from the factory. I could use what ever I care to use.
I have 5 more gallons of XD-100 and if the price drops back down again. You can bet I have 5 more gallons. Shoot no more then it burns, why swap oils?
