First crappie EVER!!!! Man, I dont even know. That was a looooong time ago. Welcome to the boards!
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
Actually I used to catch Crappie all the time as a kid fishing. I would walk to creeks
nearby my house, and no one ever told us kids what they were... Or they assumed
we really knew...
I just thought they were funny looking bluegill fish, with wide mouths, and no color.
And of course I was using the ol' standby - the beetlespin!

My Dad and I use to fish for Red Breast & Bream in the Satilla River in SE Georgia. When I was a young boy I caught my first Crappie. I didn't know what it was. They were rare in that river and they called them sun fish or speckled trout.
Caught my first crappie fishing with my dad when I was 9 or 10 fishing in a farm pond, there weren't many in that pond so it was always a nice suprise when you pulled one in.

At 31, I'm addicted to bass fishing. Fish a few times a week. All this insanity got it's start from crappie fishing.
As a young boy, the father of an uncle would take me on a North Florida lake crappie fishing. We would fish from his john boat while he sculled and we dragged minnow and minnow/jig combos for those beautiful fish.
Today, I am climbing back to my roots, and with new technology, and the passing of my old teacher, I'm eager to move forward with new techniques and continue to experience this great sport of fishing.
Great question!
