    Default Whiskers in the snow

Got out at noon to an incoming tide and before I could get all the lines in we had a 15 lb dink on. Then one of the smaller rods bent over in half and this big kittie came in about 12 minutes later.

After tide turn around another bigger rod bent over and dang near pulled all the line off. It was 44 inches long and pegged my electronic scale at 43 lbs.. Scale goes to 40lb BTW so it was way more. What a beast..

Then it started snowing and wind was blowing hard so we came in.

Great last trip of the year..

Nice cats, have you been doing any crappie fishing on the potomac this fall. Do they still bite good around the marina at fort washington ( piscautaway cr. I think it was) been a long time.

Yes they are all over the marina. I threw my cast net by the lift dock yesterday and got a 15 inch crappie. So all the years of stocking the docks has got them big.

So yes they are there. But there is no fishing allowed from docks so a boat must be used.

I last fished there in the late 80's I think , can you still launch there? We used to fish the shore across the creek also & the upper end of Mattowomen cr. up from those big sand piles. I'm across the bay now but I keep thinking I'll try over there 1 time when I'm visiting relatives.

Piscataway and Mattawomen are at least 8 miles or more from each other.

Fort Washington marina I have been stocking. But right now the hot spot is behind the fish market boats in the Washington Channel in DC. The pilings close the boats have been giving up some big slabs deep around midday..

This info came first hand from a guy I talked to with a bucket of them.
