Personally , I paint my heads , but don't bother with eyes.

I have been experimenting ALOT with getting the right paint combo and techniques on putting eyes on jigs. Now that I'm getting really close....I wonder if it even matters to the fish, if it has eyes or even painted at all...
I've been catching fish on plain jigs forever...they just don't look as cool in the tackle box.

i guess it is just up to the individual and the confidence that you have in the bait. my partner swears that he catches them just as good with a plain lead head and hook. while i feel like i catch twice as many on a painted head. i dont put eyes on them so i dont know if that helps?
Either way you go, those are some nice looking painted jig heads!

I never used painted jig heads unless they are roadrunners. Does it really make a difference? Who knows. It cost more to buy painted ones just to get lost in the brush. I am sure I could buy my own paint but that takes time and I would rather be fishign than painting.
Night nice paint job

i like the paint and eyes also, but after i beat it all off on bridge piers or brush i still catch just as many fish.
I use to like the painted but now that I make my own I don't mess with the painted heads. I really don't think its matter the body to me means the most.
can't catch'em at home
Most of the jigs I fish with have no eyes and I paint them mostly because I don't want them getting darker and darker and then getting that white stuff on the lead.
I do believe that eyes may help, but to use a lot of time making them does not seem like something that will pay off. I think a plane black eye will do as well as any other multi-color eye and most are for the fisherman IMHO!

Have fun with those eyes!!! I'm still perfecting the "oh s**t" look, the beat-up look, the pirate, and the ever famous cartoon dead-eyes (the ones that look like this " + + " )..
Eyes or no-eyes.... you're still gonna catch crappie!!
