    Default smithville docks

I guess even an old dog can learn a new trick.

I've been pretty much in a rut using power-pro line-love that stuff.Yesterday I was having a problem with it freezing up/line was a year old and getting frayed, coating was worn off and absorbing water.

Re-spooled with some 2# mono I bought last year for a trout trip that never materialized.

Immediatly my catch rate quadrupled-but by then it was time to go.

I couldn't feel the bite as quick as with the no strech P/P-but with bites on almost every cast with the light mono-it didn't matter.

I was dock fishing a couple weeks ago and another guy down there was using 1 lb mono. He was outcatching us 10 to 1. I wasn't sure if that was the reason or not but sounds like its very likely. Only downfall is he had to use a trout net to land his fish. Last weekend I switched to 6 lb spiderwire which is equivelant in size to 1 lb mono and caught more fish than i have in several months. not sure if it was the line or the fish just wanted to bite better that day.
