    Default GPS Questions?

I've been reading the past two days about GPS systems (mainly handheld).
I am looking for the best systems for the money I can get.. New to GPS!
I want to locate my brush piles and mark other places that I've caught fish previously. Looking for any suggestions and help!
    Thanks

I use the Garmin GPSMap76cx, there are other versions in this model but this one's features and capacity works best for me on the water. As a guide that is very important to my business to allow me to do my best for my clients.

Thumbs up to what Darryl said...I am going to get the Garmin 76csx myself...great features compared to other units. Go to pcnation.com and you'll find the best price. That unit is not only waterproof...it also floats!!:D

I am getting a gently used Garmin Quest for $75. I have a Garmin GPS V that worked really well. But for some reason it keeps powering down unexpectedly. The Quest and the GPS V are similar...But the Quest has 119MB of memory compared to 19MB and the Quest has a color screen.

    Some features to consider:
screen size (gotta be able to read it)
    color vs b/w (personal choice)
    WAAS (a must, hands down)
related to WAAS, ability to zoom map screen in to 20-30ft. (a must on the water, without it it's useless on the water)
number of waypoints able to store (500 or 1000)(I thought I'd never use 1000, yeah right)
    portability (handheld or fixed unit)
ease of use with your PC for backing up your waypoints (most come with a data cable, if not...no go)
ability to get a 12v adapter (most GPS units eat batteries big time)
availability of mounting brackets (hard to read and poor reception when just laying there on the deck or floor of your boat)
Get what fits your wants and needs.

Just my opinion but I'd try ebay there's a lot of handheld's on there and you can save money. I got a garmin legend hcx with "bundle" ie pc hookup, ect for 155.00 I don't know if that's the best deal out there but it was the best I could find again just my opinion
