Tried two lakes today. One of them we fished yesterday, which resulted in a pretty good bite but smaller fish. We did this "just for fun" and then went to another lake looking for better fish.

We found some of them, averaging 11", but it was a tough bite. We drilled plenty of holes and moved all over. We have to travel fairly light when going to this lake, as it's hard to get into.

I've included a pic of my son's sled and all the basic neccessities. Also show some of the nice crappies, one very nice gill, and a "pickler" pike. We also lost 2-3 pike just below the ice, along with some tackle.

Best bait of the day was Northland Tackle's new "Mud Bug", in "fire ant" color, tipped with a minnow. It took fish with a waxie as well but when we started sticking a minnow on the end of it, the fish really came alive. I think they like the profile as it sinks toward them. In any event, it really worked. It also drops like a rock, which is really nice when fishing deep water.
