Default I didn't realize how big this thing was

This Humminbird 1197 is huge. I had thought about having it and my LCX 27 both on my console, but man that would take a big console surface for sure. It pretty heavy too actually.

Can't wait to see this thing in action and I am sure it will be a bit so will have to wait even if I don't want to. Looking to find some bream beds with this thing too, but in the summer being able to see them hanging around the limbs and where they are should help, LOL!

Any tips would be appreciated on setting this thing up as far as changes to the factory default.

Don't mount it in the wrong place and tip your boat over.:p

They fun to play with on the water or at the desk......

Skip, you're gonna love looking at those bream beds with the 1197.

I've had mine for about 3 months. I'm getting ready to move my matrix 97 to the console with it and then mount my 997 up front.

Hey Skip, You will get the most out of the SI if you slow your chart speed down to 2-6 and your sensitivity down to 2-5 and keep your boat going in a straight line and at an idle speed.. I like to run the side imaging out the right side of the boat and set it out to 143 ft to the right (for crappie fishing).. The biggest mistake people make is running the boat too close the target.. If you think your far enough from what you are scanning then double the distance.. oh yeah.. set your si sonar to 455 khz.. These settings will be a good start for what you are doing..

Thanks guys! I can't wait until I can give this a try. Have to go out of town today for a funeral, but will try to get some help installing it later this week.

It's the size of your TV back in the 60's RFY. Better yet the size of the one at your fish'n shack. :D
