I think it all comes from crude oil. Just different ways of refining and the additives they put in.
Time for an oil change, started looking around.Gas is down to 1.59 a gallon but oil is running about 3$ a quart!Even the el cheapo change at wal-mart is 30$
Used to get quaker state for .99,and a filter for 4$-------9$ and 20 minutes and I was done.Last few years I did the jiffey-lube route, was worth the extra 5$ to have it done, especially in bad weather.
So when I hear crude oil is down to 50$ a barrel, should that translate to cheaper oil-or is it a totally different type they use?

I noticed the same thing. Filled up my tank at BP for 1.68/gal. , stopped at Walmart for a few things. Valvoline was 3.39/qt. Went to NAPA and bought Shell brand oil for 2.29. I usually get NAPA brand, but the guy said it was more expensive now and they weren't stocking it?
Maybe this is leftover oil made from that 125/barrel oil or somthing.
Do gooder since April 26, 2009!
I believe your right Shell. The inventory they currently have is from the old per barrel price. It will come down as will other things once we buy up all the stuff that had been made during the high oil price crisis.
The Hound
gas less than two bucks a gallon and kerosene 3.49 a gallon. thats the way it is around here.
listen with your eyes---its the only way to beleive what you hear...
Just did an oil change and bought the 5qt jug plus one single. The single cost 3.99, used to buy em for 1.19. My local auto parts man said, it's going up more better stock up now.
I know this guy well and he allways shoots me streight. He said his supplier told him that oil is going up even more. I didn't ask why, anyway I doubt if anyone knows.
Last time I saw a mouth like that it had a hook in it!
