    Default Shallow Shad

I'm seeing alot of shad being chased near shore. Do Crappie move shallow to chase shad mid-day? Or are the LMB doing the chasing? Water temp mid-50's.

2nd question. Can you keep shad alive long enough to fish all day long? HOW?

Yes Crappie, bass and saugeye all like shad, and will push them right to the bank if they can

As for the 2nd. question, cold water and an aeritor should work, it does on minnies.

It's tough to keep shad alive for an hour, let alone a day. I've tried with no luck when I used to catfish more. I've been told it takes a round bucket with a good filter of some kind and constant aeration to keep them alive. They beat themselves to death or knock the slime off or something like that in a square well, and they get their scales stuck in their gills and die if there is no filtration. Just use minnows or jigs close to the same size and they'll do just as good....and cheaper.
