There is a huge difference in a 2/0 and a #2 hook. Go to wall mart and check it out.
I've read somewhere in Crappie World magazine, that a size #1/0 or #2/0 hook should be used on a double minnow rig. It stated that a bigger hook was easier to bend, than a smaller hook, on snags. Isn't that to big of a hook for a crappie minnow? I've always used a #4 and sometimes #2. Should I switch to a larger hook?

I use a 2/0 hook and a split shot when dipping in to the thick of trees and the hook bends easy when hung up. I've had crappie just about swallow a crank bait when trolling so a 2/0 hook should'nt be and problem for them to swallow either. Best thing to do is go with what you have confidence in.
I never saw a 2/0 hook used for crappie. I am not saying it don't happen!!
# 2 light wire is used around here by almost every one. If you hank just pull it loose and bend it back.
I always use a 2/0 hook and double hook the minno.... keeps you from loosing so many minnos.....
In the fall I have caught 1.5 - 1.75 lb crappie that had a 5" shad in thier mouth plus my minno.... so a 2/0 hook should be no problem....
My 2 cents...
Good fishing..........

Always use a size 2 or 4 on that type rig.

I always use a #1 or #2 lite wire gold aberdeen hook ... Not an 2/0 nor 4/0 ...They just dont bend and then snap goes the line or you pull up the brush or structure and ruin the spot for the rest of the day... Just my 2 cents
#2 light wire hook for me everytime.
