Default Went Back To Town today

I had to go back to the Town today. All this rain coming in, I didn't want to go to the deer lease and get rained out tomorrow since I stay down there, so I talked myself into going to the Town. Put in early on River Road, only one other truck there. In fact only saw about a half dozen boats all day and two of those were duck hunters or deer hunters. Worked in Riles Creek for a while....the skunk got me there. Went to the main channel and with no particular place in mind...kicked back and slow trolled from Riles to Lick Creek, something like 3 miles. All the crappie were picked up in 18 to 20 feet. Saw some fish on brushpiles...but could not get bit at all. Don't know why the brushpile fish had lockjaw. Water temp was 55 degrees. The wind was pretty rough at times...then it would stop for a while..then start back. Got in a school of white perch at 28 feet and had a ball until they tangled half of the rods up. Caught maybe a dozen crappie were all, with 8 keepers. Caught a big old bull bream on some homegrown redworms. Saw a catfish that looked as big as a shark, well a 4 foot long shark anyways just swimming along about a foot under the surface. Should have went deer hunting I guess.

I know Painter it was great down there without all the boats flying up and down the river...I expecially love the no wind, the water is so smooth. ....I was expecting heavy rain today also ..so I am loading up after lunch...and going to deer camp. I will be back in Saturday night. I am taking Pop Pop granddaughter deer hunting Saturday...maybe she can tag her a buck this year. I am sure she will see some, if she keeps it together.

Good report Poppop. Hadn't been to Tuckertown in a while. Probably getting about time for us to start slow trolling jigs and minnows too. Been doing pretty good fast trolling jigs earlier but the water temps starting to get on down there now. Good luck on the hunting.
