I checked both Yamaha's and Mercury's website and both say it is perfectly fine to use the 90/10 - gas/ethanol mix that your seeing at most stations now.

i think some times people fill up when the tanker has just dumpped a losd . that stirs up the trash and water in the tanks . there is a gap betwen the bottom and the pickup tube in the under ground tanks . reports is that ethonol has a shorter life and doesent stay stable as long as pure gass .

I read that about the shorter life and like you I think that is true so folks may want to be aware of that. Gas never sits more than 2-3 weeks at the most in my tank though! :D

Thats some enteresting stuff there... My take after reading them all is to keep your tanks full so it breathes less, keep Sta-bil in it to help keep the blended fuel from seperating, always have a fuel filter in line to catch debris as this new fuel is an excellent cleaner and last of all if fuel injected you may need a water seperator... Sounds simple enough...Thanks Crappie Reaper
